Kingfisher Airlines is a privately owned Indian domestic low-coast airline based in Bangalore. Among the first budget airlines in a market only existent in India since 2002, Kingfisher Airlines started operations in 2005 with all new Airbus airplanes, currently 24 total, and with 65 on order and the intention to become an international world class airline and the top Indian airline. The low-cost term has been changed to value-airline, Kingfisher positioning themselves "between a budget airline and a full service carrier." While safety is ranked the highest value, service is defined as an obsession. Owner Vijay Mallya, also the owner of United Brewing Holdings and one of Forbes India 40, who is known as "The King of Good Times," is promoting the tagline "Fly the Good Times" on his "Funliners" and the pursuit of happiness in his business model. Specializing in lower fares with higher service, First class is offered with the most advanced video on demand in-flight entertainment system with extra wide 8.4" swivel wide-screens, gourmet food, and seats with a 48" pitch and 125 degree recline. Kingfisher Airlines is the official partner of the Toyota Formula 1 Racing team based in Köln, Germany.
