Lion Air Airlines
Indonesia's first low-cost no-frills airline came into being in 2000. Primarily a domestic airline, based in Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Lion Air (or PT Lion Mentari Airlines) also serves international destinations Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Penang. With 60 Boeing 737-900ERs on order the airline will be bringing its fleet close to 100 planes, and plans to serve destinations throughout Asia Pacific. The Boeing 737-900ER is a single aisle, highly advanced aircraft with a 215 passenger single class capacity. Lion Air held the largest market share of the low-cost air transportation market in Indonesia since 2005, and offers Mobile check-in, SMS booking as well as the first drive-through check-in at Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi for passengers without baggage.
