Northwest Airlines
Founded in 1926, Northwest Airlines is the oldest continuously-operating airline in the USA and has the third largest aircraft fleet in the world. Its hubs include Minneapolis / St. Paul, Detroit Metro, Memphis, Tokyo Narita, and Amsterdam. In 1991 Northwest formed the airline industry's first major alliance with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, an alliance that is still going strong and considered to be one of the most integrated in the world. Both Northwest and KLM are now part of the expanded SkyTeam alliance. The airline offers service to 49 states (sorry, Delaware) and the District of Columbia, as well as international service to Europe, Asia, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Northwest flies to 14 destinations in Asia, more than any other US carrier, including Mumbai (Bombay), Tokyo Narita, Osaka Kansai, Nagoya, Seoul Incheon, Busan, Beijing, Guangzhou (Canton), Hong Kong, Shanghai Pudong, Taipei, Manila, Singapore, and Bangkok.
